Traditional form fillers match a field to your saved data by its label: "Email" goes with your email, "Phone" with your phone number. That handles most of a form, but not questions like "Which of these best describes your experience?" or "Full name (Surname, Given Names)". AI models are good at exactly these, which is why AI form fillers have become popular. They also raise a fair question: what happens to your data?
What AI is genuinely good at in forms
- Choosing the best option in a multiple-choice question from your saved information.
- Combining fields, such as First and Last Name into a single Full Name field.
- Following format instructions like "Surname, Given Names" or "MM/YYYY".
- Drafting short answers to open questions from facts you have saved.
- Understanding questions worded in unusual ways or in another language.
What it is not good at
- Knowing facts you never saved. An AI may guess, and a confident guess on an application is worse than a blank.
- Judgement calls about you, such as salary expectations or why you want a job. Draft with it, but write the final answer yourself.
- Graded quizzes and exams. Using AI there is usually against academic rules, whatever the tool can technically do.
What gets sent to the AI provider
This is the most important question to ask about any AI form filler. Typically, the form's questions and some of your saved data are sent to an AI model. Find out exactly which data, to which company, and under whose account. A tool that uses your own API key sends requests directly from your browser to the provider you chose, under that provider's terms for API use, rather than through the tool's own servers.
How Aullevo handles AI privacy
- AI Smart Fill is optional. Without it, an offline keyword engine fills standard fields with no network request.
- You choose the provider: Google Gemini (which has a free tier), ChatGPT through OpenAI, Claude through Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible server such as OpenRouter, Groq, or a local Ollama install.
- Any field can be marked SENSITIVE. Its value never reaches the AI, only its label. The AI replies with which of your fields to use, and the real value is filled in locally on your device.
- AI answers come first and the keyword engine fills anything the AI skips, so a slow or unavailable AI does not leave the form empty.
- AI Memories let you save short facts like "Prefers remote roles" for open questions, and switch each one off at any time.
Tip: For maximum privacy, run a model on your own computer with Ollama and point the form filler at it. Then nothing leaves your machine at all.
A safe routine for AI-assisted forms
- Mark identification numbers, bank details, and anything else you would not email to a stranger as sensitive.
- Read your AI provider's data policy for API use, including retention and training.
- Fill the form, then read every AI-written answer before submitting.
- Rewrite open answers in your own voice. Recruiters and admissions staff notice generic text.
